After the blood and guts of Dover, the Ks management team of Stuart McIntyre and Mark Harris took the the opportunity of this more sedate Westview league Cup third round tie to try out their new and squad players.

The re-jigged Ks started with all guns blazing and it was no surprise when Wes Harrison grabbed his first goal for the club.

They had the opportunities but Ks just could not find the all-important second goal which allowed the Police back into the game.

Police winger Tony Finn's wonder goal midway through the second half knocked the stuffing out of Ks and it was effectively game over.

It was a tremendous start for the visitors when their early attacking play proved dividends on nine minutes when a Glenn Boosey cross from the right saw WES HARRISON squeeze in between two defenders and nod the ball home on the near post.

Then Danny Morris let rip from 25 yards but keeper Will Packham did well to tip the rising drive around the post.

Boosey was out to impress and, although his corner was headed clear by Craig Brown, a Morris volley was smothered by Packham.

A Harrison cross on 11 minutes found Boosey on the far post but he struck the side-netting from an acute angle.

A shocked boys in blue responded when Finn cut in from the left twice, the first was blocked the second wide.

Harrison replied with a drive that cannoned off Police skipper Lee Gledhill but was easy for Packham.

On 24 minutes the free-wheeling Boosey crowned a run with a powerful drive that Packham had to push away.

Then Police striker Ben Abbey showed some class down the right and let loose a fierce drive that wasn't far away.

On 37 minutes the Police started their comeback when a chip from ex-Brentford centre back Carl Hutchins floated over a stationary Ks backline for KEVIN COOPER to side-foot the ball past a stranded Luke Garrard.

With five minutes to the break an Aliy Kyezu knockdown for Morris on the edge of the Police box saw an early shot that went just over.

In the final minute of the first half sub Richard Taylor brought down Brown in the K's box.

Up stepped BEN ABBEY and he struck the spot-kick perfectly, sending the ball to his right with Garrard going the wrong way.

Ks started the second half like the first, on the attack. A long run by Boosey from midfield saw him find Harrison, who pushed the ball out to an unmarked Morris out on the right, but his rising drive was frustratingly wide.

Then Harrison took off down the right but he blasted over.

Another Boosey run saw him find Morris out on the right, he collected the ball and sent in a drive that was deflected for a corner.

Just before the hour Ks should have drawn level. Sub Dean Lodge set Morris free down the right but his drive was blocked by a tremendous flying save from Packham.

Morris did well to centre the ball to Boosey, who with Packham nowhere, struck a post and then drove the rebound over.

A run from the pacy Brown found Abbey deep in the Ks box but he blasted over. Then Boosey cut in from the left flank and sent in a strong drive that was just wide of the near post.

But on 68 minutes we saw the goal of the game, a TONY FINN 25-yard piledriver struck the inside of the bar and past a full-stretch Garrard.

Nine minutes later it was number four when Cooper found sub Paul Barrowcliff out on the left and his cross was directed into his own net by unlucky K's skipper STEVE POTTERILL.

Morris carried on trying to find the net and drove a free-kick over from distance. Garrard did well to flick away a cross cum shot from Police sub Ramsey Bedj-Bedj and the game ended with two Morris efforts, one from 25 yards, and the second from the edge of the home box which was pushed away by a full-stretch Packham.
