Kingstonian bounced back positively with their third away win after the reverse against league leaders Fleet Town last Saturday.
Although Leafe were keen to wipe away memories of their 5-0 drubbing against Dulwich Hamlet at the weekend, Ks raced to a two-goal lead by the break at Church Road.
The Ks backline, even without skipper Julian Sills, look impregnable after half-time and it took a wonder goal from sub Ryan Rummery late on for the home side to make the score look respectable.
Mid-table Whyteleafe are still chasing their first home league win of the season and started well pushing Ks back.
A 25-yarder from pacy striker Leon McDowall went wild and high but, two minutes later, there was a better move.
Striker Steve Douglas found McDowall on the left but his low cross was cleared by Tommy Moorhouse, who went on to have a cracking game.
Then Richard Williams also ballooned the ball over. A lob from winger Ellis Conroy was comfortable for Ks keeper Luke Garrard.
Ks hit back on eight minutes, when Glenn Boosey walloped the ball over from distance.
Leafe keeper Danny Coote then struck Ks striker Tony Reid with a clearance and had to head the ball away to safety.
On 10 minutes Ks exploited some indecision in the home box. A Boosey corner from the right saw TOMMY MOORHOUSE rise above the Leafe defenders and powerfully head the ball past a stranded Coote.
Then Moorhouse ran back to calmly nod the ball back to his keeper with McDowall lurking.
The Leafe responded with a dangerous far post cross from Tony Martin with McDowall at full-stretch just failing to connect.
Two penetrating runs from Dean Lodge, the second a far post cross was unfortunately just too strong.
With 10 minutes to the break, a long throw from Richard Taylor found an unmarked Moorhouse again but this time he headed straight at Coote on his line.
On 41 minutes, a well struck free-kick from 25 yards from Conroy curled over Ks' defensive wall but Garrard took it cleanly.
Two minutes later, skipper Scott Corbett set up a free-kick from 25 yards for Lodge but he struck wide with Coote scurrying.
Then Lodge burst down the right and tried his luck from an acute angle but Coote smothered the effort.
In the final minute of the half, Ks got that all-important second goal.
A long ball from Steve Symes out on the left was kept in by Danny Morris on the far post, which Coote did well to tip away but a sloppy half-clearance only found DEAN LODGE, and his fierce first-time strike flew home through a crowded Leafe goalmouth.
The home side started the second half well and had their best chance of the game on 51 minutes when a Conroy free-kick deep into the Ks box was knocked down for Williams close in, but Garrard made a superb point-blank save, conceding a corner that blasted over by defender Scott Marshall.
Then winger Scott Simpson's low cross from the left flank was smothered by Garrard on the near post.
On 58 minutes a Conroy corner was headed over on the near post by Simpson. Back came Ks, a long ball from Moorhouse saw Coote out of his box to clear with Morris on hand.
Then a Lodge corner struck low caught everyone out apart from Corbett whose close range effort was cleared away from the goalline with hopeful cries of handball from the Ks faithful.
A Boosey corner was again only half-cleared to Lodge on the edge of the home box but this time his first-time effort was comfortable for Coote.
On 71 minutes,an alert Garrard snatched the ball from McDowall on the edge of his box.
A crossfield pass from Stephen Broad set sub Mazin Ahmad free down the left but his eventual drive was comfortable for Coote.
On 83 minutes the Ks should have made the game safe when Reid took off down the left on a solo run but Coote rushed out to make a fine save.
The game looked pretty much done and dusted but with five minutes to go the Leafe were spectacularly back in it.
A through ball from Conroy found sub RYAN RUMMERY some 25 yards out, he turned and lashed the ball past a full-stretch Garrard for a fine goal made out of sweet nothing.
The K's kept their heads though and Garrard was out quickly to deny Rummery in additional time.
