Former England captain David Beckham has revealed that he regularly plays football in Battersea Park.

The revelation came in an article penned by the celebrity superstar in yesterday's Sunday Times where he also confessed to building Lego to combat stress.

But the news the former Real Madrid midfielder stills dusts off his old boots for a spot of five-a-side in the famous park is sure to keep regulars' eyes peeled in future.

Beckham, 38, moved back to the UK with wife Victoria and their four children last year and now reside in west London.

"I love living back in London," he said.

"I enjoy its big parks, especially ones like Battersea and I love walking through them after I've been playing five-a-side with some friends.

"One thing I really love about being back here is the pubs - I even have a couple of locals that I actually go to.

"The people there know me, so it's easy enough to go in and have a pint."

But the Beckham's Battersea connection does not end there because last year it was reported that Victoria bought a Spar supermarket in Battersea Park Road, a short walk from her office, which she is planning to convert into a fashion house.

The astro turf five-a-side pitches in the park have become home to some titanic amateur footballing battles, particularly in the colder months.

In recent years The Duke of Cambridge, and brother Prince Harry, have also been spotted having a kickabout in the park.
