An African Nations Charity Cup fundraising event will be held at Camberley Arena on Saturday, October 3.
Based in the London, African Prisons Project is the only charity organisation that aims to improve the welfare, health and education of detainees in prisons across Africa.
The volunteer-run charity endeavours to restore the dignity of inmates by providing humane conditions, access to medical facilities and the opportunity to learn in educational facilities, ultimately increasing the chances of rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
To raise money for the creation and much needed refurbishment of prison clinics and libraries African Prisons Project will be hosting a five-a-side football fundraising tournament at Camberley Arena, Surrey, on Saturday, October 3 from 1pm.
There will be 16 teams representing African countries in a World Cup format as well as a Ugandan buffet and bar, African music, face painting, a raffle and a guest speaker from African Prisons Project creating an enjoyable day for the whole family to take part in.
Fundraising and Communications Officer at African Prisons Project, Adam Smith said: “We are looking forward to a fun day out to celebrate the football season whilst raising money for essential refurbishment and educational projects across prisons in Africa.
“Our past events have proved highly successful in raising money and awareness.”
