Hounslow Wanderers travelled to Stonewall and extended their unbeaten start to life in the Middlesex County Premier Division.

Having already played each other on the first day of the season the fixture was always going to be a difficult one.

Wanderers boss Vip Mair was left with a section headache with six players missing due to various reasons and his selection was full of surprises.

Stonewall started the game with a high tempo but found the Purple Haze’s defence far too strong for them.

Wanderers took the lead on 17 minutes when Jas Sangha lobbed the stranded Stonewall goalkeeper.

The Purple Haze should have doubled their lead on a number of occasions but most notably when Edson Descastro’s shot resulted in a great save by the Stonewall keeper.

As the game went on the opposition’s threat on the Wanderers goal was limited and indeed the clearer cut changes feel to the Purple Haze’s front line.

Wanderers boss Vip Mair said: “Although the scoreline didn’t reflect the performance the effort put in by the team today was faultless. I was extremely delighted to keep another clean sheet away from home.”

Wanderers next league match is a home fixture on against Vallance from East London on 3rd October 2009.
