Hampton & Richmond crashed out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the second qualifying round stage despite dominating for long spells of Saturday's tie at Windsor & Eton.

Windsor keeper Sam Mazurek had one of those games where the ball seemed magnetically attracted to his gloves and he even saved a last-minute penalty from Ryan Lake.

Windsor went close after five minutes when Graham Harper cleared off the line.

But Hampton dominated long periods of the first half with Lake, Glen Harris and Jon Henry-Hayden all going close early on.

After 25 minutes, Barrie Matthews' 25-yearder was caught by Mazurek, who dropped the ball onto the ground to clear upfield.

Ian Hodges nipped in to steal the ball and roll it into the net, but the assistant referee flagged for what he saw as an infringement.

Just before half-time Windsor's Matt Seedel, who is also registered as a Hampton player, was off target with a header.

Windsor had another huge let off after an hour when Mazurek's punch was misdirected. Matt Elverson headed it on, but a Windsor player cleared off the line.

When Hampton did get the ball in the net through Hodges in the 63rd minute, the offside flag went up.

Michael Chennells twice went close at the other end, firing wide in the 66th minute before forcing Matt Lovett into a point blank save.

But it was third time lucky for Chennells when he finished off a move started by Mazurek to give Windsor the lead.

Mazurek was soon at the centre of the action again, diverting Lawrence Yaku's shot for a corner and saving at Hodges' feet.

Windsor scored again from their next attack with Seedel scoring while Hampton waited for the offside flag that never came.

Even when Hampton were awarded a stoppage time penalty for handball, things conspired against them.

Mazurek saved Lake's spot-kick and referee George Young ignored his assistant referee's flag for a retake, the keeper having moved off the line, instead blowing his whistle for the end of the game.

Hampton: Lovett, Harper, Lake, Elverson, Fernandes, Wells, Harris, Henry-Hayden (Yaku 60), Hodges, Matthews (Godfrey 77), McIntosh.

Attendance: 291.

Hampton visit Margate in the Ryman Premier League on Saturday.

Hampton's Glen Harris has been selected to play for England against Belgium in a Futsal International.

Harris is likely to miss the home game with Tonbridge as he will be on International duty that week partaking in a form of five-a-side football for England in Belgium.
