Twickenham travelled to Woodford hopeful of kick starting their season with a match against the only other side in the league yet to post a win. For the first twenty to thirty minutes it looked as though that would be the case with Ts enjoying a lead through a Phil Astbury penalty, before allowing the Woodford fly-half in for a try which was converted. A penalty for the home side followed with another by Astbury in reply, the score at half-time was 12-6.

The second half saw Twickenham have to substitute their fly-half and one of their second row which did not assist things but this alone did not cause their downfall. There were just too many times when some of their forwards were to be found standing in the backs rather than hitting the rucks and mauls where their weight would have been of assistance. There were also too many occasions when they were driven back at rucks or out muscled in mauls resulting in turnover ball to Woodford.

Despite the sterling efforts of Charlie I'anson and Rupert Freeman, with little support arriving in time, only slow ball was produced and by the time it reached the centres they were receiving ball along with the opposition defenders and had little chance to do anything with it, although Tom Howden and Dan Mourad tried their best.

Twickenham at the moment are lacking players with enough experience or creativity to play the sort of rugby that they are trying to play, taking too long to make decisions in critical positions and failing to retain ball in contact and until these things improve they will continue to struggle in the league.
