London Broncos half back Dan Sarginson wants a repeat of last year’s 28-24 home win over Widnes Vikings to kick-off the Super League in style next month, writes Stuart Amos.
Head coach Tony Rea’s men welcome Widnes to the Stoop on February 3 in the knowledge they triumphed the last time the two team met, but wary the visitors had edged the previous fixture 38-30 at the Halton stadium in March.
But Sarginson, 20, admitted a more comfortably winning margin would be preferable.
“All the boys have put in 100 per cent during pre-season and the team are probably in the best shape we’ve ever been in,” said Sarginson.
“It’s the first full pre-season I’ve had personally and all the boys are looking in good shape.
“Widnes were similar to us last year in that they had a lot of new signings.
“They have a good team on paper so it should be a good game.
“Even when we played them at their place both games were decided in the last couple of minutes, so it would be good to get one over them in the first game of the season.”
The Broncos start their pre-season preparations when they host the London Skolars at the HAC in London next Friday.
