London Broncos captain Craig Gower has stepped down, although he remains under contract until end of the 2014 season.
The Broncos have appointed Tony Clubb, 25, as replacement.
Head coach Tony Rea said: “Tony has all the attributes of a leader. He’s been in the system for eight years, leads from the front and is a proud Londoner. He also has other attributes the team can look to in the heat of battle.
“Craig, as a play maker, will always show the intensity to play the game hard and work hard. The change just enables us to have another dimension to the leadership.”
The Broncos will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on the Castleford Tigers at The Stoop this Saturday (kick off 3pm).
New skipper: Tony Clubb will step up to take the armband for this weekend's visit of Castelford Tigers
Despite last week's defeat against the Catalan Dragons, the Broncos have shown much improvement at home of late and will be looking to make it four wins from their last five fixtures at The Stoop, and in the process add Castleford to a list of scalps that also includes St Helens, Bradford Bulls and Featherstone Rovers.
The Tigers are two points above the Broncos in the Super League but a repeat of the result in Castleford earlier in the season, in which the Broncos were victorious 26-12, would see the two sides draw level in the table.
The task won’t be easy against a Castleford team who have turned their form around since the appointment of new head coach Daryl Powell in early May.
The Tigers have won two of their three games under Powell including wins against Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
Their struggles in Super league so far this season belies the quality of the squad Powell has at his disposal which boasts a number of quality players, including England internationals Rangi Chase and Michael Shenton.
The two sides are evenly matched in the Super league era with each recording 16 wins, with three draws, from their 35 meetings.
However the Broncos have a good recent record in this fixture and are unbeaten in their last three meetings in the capital. Castleford’s last victory at this ground was a 48-0 triumph back in September 2009.
Only four players who played that day still play for Castleford.
