Peter Ramage was more than happy to sign a new deal at Crystal Palace after being made to feel wanted by the club.
The defender agreed a new two-year contract two months ago but it was only announced last week after the Eagles secured promotion to the Premier League.
Ramage was going to be out of contract this summer but is now delighted to have his future sorted and to be remaining in SE25.
“From my point of view it is brilliant,” he said.
“I have loved every minute of my time here since last season. The family is happy down in London and our child is in school. So I am just over the moon to get it done.
“The club approached me as well which was nice.
“The gaffer said he wanted to get it done which meant a lot to me and it’s nice to feel wanted.
“I think I have played my part this season and it was nice of them to reward me personally for it.”
The 29-year-old found himself on the bench for the final seven games of the season but although he had to watch last Monday’s play-off final win from the dug-out, promotion still eclipsed the rest of his 10-year footballing career.
“It is the highlight of my career after the birth of my little one and getting married,” he added.
“It was the best feeling I have ever experienced. It is something I didn’t think I would achieve but I hoped I would.
“I was like everyone else at the start of the season where I did not think this was going to happen, but this is the stuff of dreams.”
