Laura Robson needed painkillers and a medical time-out, but the Wimbledon teenager still beat Caroline Garcia of France to reach the third round of the US Open.
The 19-year-old has been suffering with a wrist injury, but is confident ahead of Friday's Grand Slam clash with fifth seed Li Na after her 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win on Wednesday.
The British number one, and 30th seed at Flushing Meadows, played Na at last year's event, winning in three sets to set up a fourth round meeting, and defeat to, with Sam Stosur.
Robson said: “The time-out was because I needed some more tape on my wrist, but it's fine. I'm going to get treatment on it and get it ready for Friday."
