Despite a nice start to the British flat season with some racing on likely good ground at Doncaster, this weekend feels like the calm before the storm as the jumps season takes centre stage next week with the Aintree Meeting and the Grand National.
However, there is some high quality action in Dubai as their World Cup meeting takes place on Saturday, with many British horses taking on strong contingents from other countries in high-value races in their modern Meydan racecourse.
The World’s richest race takes place at 6.05 with the Dubai World Cup which holds a prize fund of over £6 million with the winner taking home over £3.6 million.
Last year’s Epsom Derby winner Ruler of the World currently leads the market, but is this time ridden by Joseph O’Brien instead of Ryan Moore, who partners Hillstar trained by Sir Michael Stoute.
With the Grand National approaching, my first ante-post tip is below along with other tips for Saturday’s racing, including the big race of the day which is the William Hill Lincoln, the 3.45 at Doncaster.
Tips (subject to Non Runners):
Meydan 4.40 – Dank, 6.05 – Hillstar e/w
Doncaster – 3.45 Captain Cat e/w, Tullius e/w, 3.15 Dance and Dance e/w
Stratford – 4.15 Benbens
Grand National Ante-Post tip: Balthazar King – Previously tipped and won at Cheltenham Festival, the horse loves jumping and rarely makes a mistake. Ran well last year before tiring, but will prefer the likely better ground and it’s always a positive if the horse can get around the full 4 ½ miles.
Beginning Monday will be a daily tips blog, with weekly articles
