Today is the day. The Aintree Grand National.
Croydon Guardian tipster Paul Darville picked two winners and a second placed yesterday so the big question is can he land the big race today?
Here are his tips for today's racing including the Crabbies Grand National.
1.30 Lac Fontana (won at Cheltenham and looked very good in the process. Jockey booking of McCoy is a plus)
2.05 Hinterland (unlucky at Cheltenham when unseated rider through no fault of his or the jockey’s)
2.40 At Fishers Cross (class horse, has good Aintree form and the two that beat him at Cheltenham aren’t entered), I also like Salubrious to possibly come in the 1st 2 at a big price, but after an average run at Cheltenham, I wouldn’t be risking too much money.
3.25 Minella for Value e/w (Strong Ireland form, more to come and well rested since October)
4.15 Balthazar King e/w (if it doesn’t rain too heavily, BK will love the fences and should travel better than last year)
5.10 Katgary (One of the unluckiest horses of Cheltenham, being badly hampered at the 2nd last, but still fighting to get 2nd) NAP.
5.45 Bringithomeminty (Geraghty/Henderson combination, room to improve after strong Feb run)
Other previously advised horses for the Grand National (4.15): Tidal Bay, The Rainbow Hunter, Hawkes Point, Shakalakaboomboom.
