Last week's Epsom Derby passed with two fancied horses taking victory in the big races of the festival.
Friday’s Oaks was won in style by Taghrooda who remains unbeaten and the winner was clear a furlong from the end to the chasing pack.
Tarfasha took 2nd for Dermot Weld while Volume was 3rd. Sadly for Crystal Palace fans, Aidan O’Brien’s horse Palace could only finish 7th but it was a good run by the horse who only finished half a length down on pre-race favourite Marvellous.
Saturday’s Derby was taken by the horse who was bred to win the Derby.
The early morning rain was not enough to put favourite Australia out of his stride, and Aidan O’Brien became the first trainer to complete a hat trick of wins after Camelot in 2012 and Ruler of the World in 2013.
Kingston Hill came 2nd and stayed on late but was never really troubling the winner and finished 1 ¼ lengths behind.
There is a quieter Saturday of racing this week with less top quality action but there are 8 meetings across the UK and lots of value to be had.
Next week is the return of Royal Ascot, and this will be previewed on Monday with multiple big races across the Festival that lasts from Tuesday until Saturday.
