Former Tiffin School student Arun Harinath scored a century in each innings in his first County Championship Division Two appearance of the season, but he could no stop Surrey from sliding to defeat.
The 28-year-old scored 120 in the first innings and 104 in the second at Guildford, but Glamorgan - for whom number eight Graham Wagg scored 200 in their first innings - chased 247 to win on the final day for the loss of just three wickets.
Harinath, who plays for Sutton in the Surrey Championship Premier Division, only played five first class games last summer and was a late replacement for fellow opener Rory Burns, who was injured in a collision with team-mate Moises Henriques while fielding in a T20 Blast match at Sussex on Sunday.
