After almost 18 months away from tennis, an understandably rusty Laura Robson is out of the 2015 Wimbledon Championships.
The 21-year-old lost in straight sets (6-4 6-4) to Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina to fall at the first hurdle in only her second competitive match since returning from the wrist injury that saw her miss last year’s Championship.
Robson showed in glimpses the brilliance that lifted her to 27th in the world prior to her injury - however, all too often an unforced error cost her at the vital moment.
In the end, Robson was guilty of 45 unforced errors, compared to the 12 of her opponent – and despite the patriotic support on court number two, there was no coming back from that.
