Britain’s Laura Robson has lost in the second round of the Granby National Bank Challenger tournament in Canada – falling 6-2 4-6 6-2 to American Ellie Halbauer.
The 21-year-old - ranked at 913 in the world – returned to tennis in June after an 18 month layoff, having suffered a wrist injury.
The loss against the world number 498 comes only days after Robson won her first game following the injury – beating Japan’s Naomi Osaka in the first round of the challenger event.
The tournament is a level below the superior women’s WTA tour.
Robson, on returning, had previously lost in the first round at both Wimbledon and Eastbourne and will now focus her attention on getting in shape for the US Open next month.
Robson has been able to enter due to her protected ranking – having been ranked as high as 27 in the world in 2013.
