It was a case of steady as she goes at Spedeworth’s first meeting of the new winter season at Wimbledon Raceway last weekend, as consistent performances in each of the four classes won the day.
Tooting’s Nicky D’Souza had his customary win on his home raceway in the stock rods, but following up his hat-trick at Arlington Raceway recently, Mark Latter was the big winner in the class with a second place and two wins, one of which was in the final.
A similar record was mirrored by young Jacques West from Guildford.
Having come a close second in the first heat, he then went on to win the second heat, and also come home first in the junior stock car final.
Credit in that formula has to go to Robert Bruce, who travelled down to London to race from Scotland.
In the fast pace races of the lightning rods, Nathan Olden continued the theme of consistency with a brace of wins. He followed up a win in race two, by taking the chequered flag in his respective final.
This leaves the ever popular bangers, in their weekly league newly sponsored by BOC Gas and Gear.

Brighton’s Aaron Godfree started the new championship well bby securing the first heat win, and then recording double points with the final win.
After a great summer season at Arlington, where he finished runner up in the Sussex league, the capital’s Dale Fairless is the early front runner in the Wimbledon title race, having secured second place in each of the three races.
Action returns to Plough Lane this Sunday, with a four formula meeting that promises something for every race fan.
The superstox return for their first outing since their World Championship held in September, in Northern Ireland.
Adding to the evening’s action will be a visit from the budget rod class rookie rods.
There is also adult and junior banger classes providing the "contact" entertainment.
Racing starts at 5.30pm, with turnstiles open at 4.30pm.
