Surbiton’s Georgie Twigg and Hollie Webb have made the cut for Team GB’s 18-strong Hockey World League Finals squad, but there is no place for clubmate Giselle Ansley.
Ansley has been a regular for England and Great Britain since making her international debut in 2013, winning Commonwealth Games silver and European Championship gold.
But the return to action of Crista Cullen – after taking a break since the 2012 Olympics – has seen the 23-year-old dropped for the trip to Argentina next month.
“Crista [Cullen] has returned to the GB programme in great physical shape and she now needs exposure to high standard international match play,” said GB head coach Danny Kerry.
Jo Hunter’s penalty corner salvaged a 1-1 draw with University of Birmingham at Sugden Road last Sunday to preserve Surbiton Ladies’ long unbeaten league run.
Captain Sarah Haycroft, who also missed out on GB selection, takes her team to Buckingham today.
