Former Hampstead & Westminster star Andy Hayward showed what his old club was missing on Sunday.
The New Zealand international, who now has nine goals in seven league appearances for Surbiton, pocketed a first half hat-trick as his side came from behind to claim a comfortable 4-1 Men’s Hockey League Premier Division win over his former team-mates at the weekend.
It kept them level on points with leaders Holcombe with only Saturday’s clash with Beeston to go until the mid-season break.
Surbiton Ladies marked Abi Robinson’s 100th national league appearance with a 3-1 Women’s Hockey League Premier Division win at Buckingham on Saturday.
Robinson came off the bench as goals from Emily Atkinson, Sarah Page and Giselle Ansley secured a comfortable win at Stowe School that kept head coach Brett Garrard’s side second in the table, ahead of Holcombe’s visit to Sugden Road on Saturday.
