Richmond Hockey Club’s player coach Mark Pearn is expecting a dogfight for MHL Conference East promotion in the new year.
Richmond slipped to an embarrassing 2-0 defeat at rock-bottom Harleston Magpies on Sunday to give the hosts their first win of the season.
Despite the slip, Richmond remain top of the table and are two points clear of Southgate going in to the winter switch to indoor competition.
“Not the best day, but cannot fault the effort from the boys. Just couldn’t score for love or money,” tweeted the former GB international.
“Tough couple of weeks with @RichmondHCSkip but can’t be upset with position at Xmas break.
“Dogfight in the new year.”
