Twickenham’s Don Manuwelge blew a hole in Richmond’s Middlesex County League Premier Division title hopes and gave his own team’s chances an unlikely boost on Saturday.
The young Middlesex man blasted an unbeaten 131 and skipper Carlos Nunes 80* as Twickenham thrashed the visitors to Twickenham Green by six wickets.
James Irvine-Fortescue (56), Abishek Jhunjhunwala (54) and Alex Griffiths (54) all posted half centuries as Richmond scored 256-9 declared.
Richmond are eight points behind new league leaders Teddington, who won by nine wickets at Ealing thanks to an unbeaten 102 from Tom Twiney and David Keightley's 5-41 that had earlier restricted the hosts to 171 all out.
Barnes, four points off second placed Brondesbury, remain in the Division Two promotion race thanks to a winning draw at home to Acton.
Fixtures: Teddington v North Middlesex, Richmond v Ealing, Southgate v Twickenham, Enfield v Barnes.
