Joe Joyce moved a step closer to a meeting with WBA world regular heavyweight champion Manuel Charr after battering former WBC title holder Bermane Stiverne in six rounds last Saturday at The O2, North Greenwich, writes Ziad Chaudry.
The 33-year-old from Putney demonstrated impressive punch volume and completely outboxed his Canadian-Haitian opponent to claim the Commonwealth title on the undercard of the marque ITV Box Office super-middleweight showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and James Degale.
"Big respect to Bermane Stiverne," said the former Earlsfield ABC rep. "He is very tough and stuck in there but I guess I was just too much.
"It was about being patient as he's such a tough guy he took all those shots. There are big things to come."
The Juggernaut moves to eight straight victories and hopes the fight with Germany-based Lebanese Charr will happen this Summer.
