Sandra Francis, from Striders of Croydon, placed third in the W60 long jump in the British Masters Indoor Championships, at Lee Valley, with a jump of 3.37 metres. She also placed fifth in the W60 hurdles, recording 14.32 seconds.
In the Lloyd Parkrun on Saturday, Striders had two of the first three finishers, with Lee Flanagan second (19:44) and Simon Ambrosi third (19:54).
Jenny Rowe was the first woman to finish, placing 23rd overall (22:59), while Jennifer Gutteridge was the fourth woman to finish, placing 41st overall (24:40).
Steve Corfield was second in the South Norwood parkrun (19:08), while Martin Filer was fourth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (18:46). Striders had a total of 65 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (24 at Lloyd Park and 41 at other venues).
Striders had ten finishers in the Vitality Half-Marathon in London. They were led by Graeme Drysdale, who placed 754th out of more than 12000 finishers, recording 86 minutes 05 seconds. He was followed by Darren Woods (89:28). Niamh Vincent was 231st in the women’s race, recording a personal best 96 minutes 19. In the Reading Half-Marathon, Dave Shaw placed 340th in a field of more than 13000 runners, recording 87 minutes 55 seconds.
This Sunday (24th), Striders have several competitors in the Hastings Half-Marathon.
