Youngsters from Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton and Hampton School have returned triumphant from the British Schools Championships in Flaine, France.

At the girls' event, Lady Eleanor Holles captured the school team trophy for the fourth year in a row as well as retaining their overall team trophy.

Racing condition in Flaine were nearly perfect, with clear blue skies and firm snow.

The team, consisting of Franki Simonds, 17, Kirsty Dixon, 15, and Mollie Dendle, 14, comfortably won the giant slalom on the first day.

They faced more competition in the slalom on the second day, having to settle for a close second behind Surbiton High School.

But their efforts on day one proved decisive as they took the overall combined trophy.

Franki, who is in her last year in the school, also won the overall individual title for the second year in a row after a convincing win in the giant slalom.

She is a member of the England Alpine Ski team, while Esher-based Kirsty and Mollie, from Kingston, both train at Sandown Park dry ski slope.

In the boys' event, the Hampton School team - Titus Duckworth, Robert Fail, Charlie Marlow and Luke Jackson - took second place in the children's category.

Three of the boys were participating in the championships for the first time.

All four plan to take part in the championships next year and hope to go one better and land gold.
