Teddington Swimming Club have landed their first silverware of 2008, writes Marc Curant.
They were victorious in the Hodges Cup gala hosted by Bracknell & Wokingham SC at Aldershot's 50m pool.
It was a great achievement considering the tough opposition, which also included Tilehurst, Aylesbury, Sutton Atlantis and Sutton & Cheam.
There were individual wins for Teddington's Angharad Williams, Ben Evans, Pippa Wood, Elliot Fifield-Walker, Alice harper, James Stanhope and Hannah Rodgers.
Speeding tickets were awarded to Hallam Child, Ben Evans, Elliot Walker-Fifield, Alara Buke and Hannah Rogers.
At the half way point Teddington were a close second place to Bracknell but some strong swims in the second half of the gala saw them win by just 4.5 points.
The final event - the squadron relay - was a particular highlight, with Teddington leading from start to finish, Joseph Whitbread anchoring the team to victory Personal best times: Alex McIntyre, Hallam Child, Elizabeth Bickford-Sawkings, Laura Cecil, Ben Evans, Ryota Ohta, Sava Draganski, Ben Evans, Michael Dunn, Zoe Buzzard-Hill, Elliot Walker-Fifield, Alara Buke, Luke Penny, Hannah Rogers, Henry Dawson, and Erin Maloney-Cox.
Coach Steve Baker collected the trophy for the team along with the team captains Gala result: 1 Teddington 152.5, 2 Bracknell & Wokingham 148, 3 Tilehurst 130, 4 Aylesbury 126.5, 5 Sutton Atlantis 121.5, 6 Sutton & Cheam 118.5.
