Stragglers' Simon Ford made it third time lucky in winning the Banstead Woods 5km time trial for the first time on Saturday morning, writes Chris Phelan.
He clocked 17 minutes 33 seconds on a hard, frozen course, to finish 54 seconds ahead of previous winner Joseph Chang of 26.2 Road Runners. Oxted Runners' Greg Sherriff (18.54) was third.
Teenager Monica Isaac of Sutton & District recorded her third victory in the women's event in 20:38.
That was nearly three minutes clear of second-placed Therese Panetta, of Sutton Runners, an over-45 veteran who is an ever-present at the event either competing, volunteering or supporting. Hercules Wimbledon's Rowena Hornshaw (24:20) was third.
