Sunshine and summery temperature greeted 366 athletes on Saturday for the final match of the Surrey Ladies Cross Country League, held in Richmond Park, writes Susanne Dietrich.
In Division One, Herne Hill Harriers battled hard to win the match, just ahead of South London Harriers.
Yet these performances were not quite enough to prevent Ranelagh Harriers from taking the title, with Herne Hill Harriers claiming silver.
Thames Hare & Hounds finished in third place, just ahead of South London Harriers. Kingston & Poly confirmed last season's promotion from Division Two, staying well clear of the relegation zone, ahead of last season's winner Belgrave Harriers, as well as Elmbridge, Runnymede and Epsom & Ewell. In Division Two, Woking AC was the undisputed winner and will move up to Division 1, together with Sutton Runners and Striders of Croydon.
A superb Emily Nelson (Epsom & Ewell) claimed the individual senior ladies title in Division One, ahead of Fiona Clark (Reigate) and Sarah Murphy (Belgrave Harriers), while Clare Elms (Dulwich) won the veterans' title, in front of Anna Critchlow (West 4 Harriers) and Anna Scally (Ranelagh).
In Division Two, Woking runners Annabelle Levene and Jo Rodriguez-Downs took gold and silver, respectively, with Elinor Caborn (Sutton) finishing third.
Here, the vets title fell to Vicky Foad (Sutton), with Samantha Harrison (Woking) second and Veronique Bringlow (Sutton) third.
Guildford & Godalming dominated the U13 races with Louise Herow finishing first and Catie Callendar second. Jessica Filby (DMV) came third.
The U15 title went to Hannah Edwards (Herne Hill), with second place for Adele Tracey (Guildford and Godalming) and tied in third place, Grace O'Leary (Sutton) and Kate Snowden (Herne Hill). Isabel Brinsden was successful for Epsom and Ewell in the U17 races, ahead of Monica Isaac (Sutton) and Christine Lowson (Guildford).
The Division 1/U20 title went to Monique Davis (Herne Hill), ahead of club mate Jmaela Brookes and Emine Ulucay (Kingston and Poly). In Division 2, Sophie Cowper (Redhill) was successful, ahead of Emma Harkins (Sutton) and Claire Pearce (Walton).
