Sutton's world junior 100m champion Harry Aikines-Aryeetey posted a lifetime best in the 60m at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix indoor meeting in Birmingham on Saturday.
He clocked 6.62 seconds to finish fifth in a top-class field, slicing five-hundredths of a second off his previous best set early last year.
It set the record straight after the previous weekend's Norwich Union World Indoor Trials and UK Championships at Sheffield, when Aikines-Aryeetey was disqualified after a false start in his semi-final.
European 5,000m silver medallist Mo Farah finished sixth in the 3,000m (8:20.95), his first race of the year.
Teddington-based Farah said: "I needed to run to see where I am. I still need to do some work, I did not have an indoor season in mind, but running here has helped."
Sutton's Andy Turner finished third, and second UK athlete, in the 60m hurdles. He clocked 7.74, three days after clocking 7.72 at an indoor meeting in Athens.
Belgrave's Samson Oni was in action again a week after booking his place in the team for next month's world indoors next month with a lifetime best 2.30m.
He was slightly below that form in taking second place with 2.26m at Birmingham.
Another Valenica-bound athlete, St Mary's Twickenham student Jemma Simpson, was pipped by GB team-mate Jenny Meadows in the 800m, taking second place (2:01.25).
