The desperately cold weather means I have not had a single call about catches from stillwaters this week, writes Ray Robson.
Fortunately, a few hardy river anglers have endured the freezing conditions and been rewarded with some fine sport.
Raynes Park's Jason Aspell fished the Thames at Teddington and banked a personal best 23lb pike.
He backed the big one up with two more smaller samples and all three fell to legered lamprey section.
Another to haul big pike from the Thames is Des Cross, who opted to fish at Walton Bridge and landed four pike all around the 8lb mark on half mackerel before a change of bait to smelt deadbait brought him his best of the day at 17lb.
Nigel Barnes, 14, has only been fishing for a year, but landed a 2lb 12oz perch that any experienced fisherman would be proud of.
Fishing a stretch of the River Wey with dad Paul, the Battersea youngster waggler fished double red maggot and also had a few small roach and tiny little chublets, before landing the perch.
