Surbiton blew a 2-0 lead as they went down 3-2 at Beeston in the National Premier Division at Highfields Stadium, Nottingham, on Saturday.

Despite early home pressure, Surbiton took a ninth-minute lead when Martin Dye's firm hit into the circle saw James Mulcair on hand to score from close range.

Surbiton got a second against the run of play in the 26th minute when Mulcair scored from close range after a scything run down the right from Ben Tibble.

Ollie Corner dragflicked home a penalty corner two minutes later to make it 2-1.

Beeston then took advantage of two defensive lapses in a two-minute spell in the second half to clinch victory, thanks to goals from David Griffiths and Adam Dixon.

Although Surbiton rotated positions and came more into the game, Beeston continued to carve out chances, with visiting keeper Duncan Holmes forced into two fine saves.

The result sees Surbiton drop to sixth in the 10-team division. They host Bowdon at Sugden Road this Saturday (2pm).
