South London Harriers runner Pawel Bal won the Banstead Woods 5km time trial for the first time on Saturday.
He clocked 16 minutes 53 seconds to beat the previous week's winner Simon Ford of Stragglers, even though the runner-up clocked a personal best 17:11.
Event director and founder Chris Phelan, an over-45 veteran who runs for South London Harriers, also clocked a personal best in finishing third (17:15).
Sutton Runners' Vicky Foad, winner of the Valentine's 10km race at Chessington a fortnight earlier, won the women's race on her event debut in 20:19.
Veteran South London Harriers triathlete Christine Costiff was second (20:33), with another over-45 runner Ceara Joyce of Epsom Oddballs third (21:26).
For the first time, the leading junior runners were awarded with adidas tee-shirts.
