Croydon-born Blake Aldridge is one step away from reaching the Beijing Olympics after taking bronze medal in the 10m synchronised diving at a FINA World Cup event in China.
The 25-year-old - and partner Tom Daley - finished third to guarantee Great Britain a place in the final at the 2008 Games in August.
But the pair will have to beat off competition from Athens silver medallists Leon Taylor and Peter Waterfield - probably in a play-off - for the right to compete.
Even if they don't beat their rivals, 13-year-old Daley will become Britain's youngest ever Olympian after finishing in the top eight in the 10m individual platform event.
