More than 350 triathletes took part in the second race of Thames Turbo Triathlon Club's 2008 series at Hampton Open Air Pool on Monday.
In ideal conditions, Dan Corner (Shorter Rochford Exclusive Ranges) clinched his second victory in the series after a thrilling battle with Jonathan Hotchkiss (Sigma Sport/Orca).
Hotchkiss bettered Corner's swim by four seconds and put a further 10 seconds between them by snatching the 20-29 bike record from previous holder Richard Legge (Thames Turbo/Sigma Sport).
But Corner's superior pace over the 5km run saw him make up the time and he finished four seconds ahead of Hotchkiss.
Corner bettered his race one time by three minutes to finish in 55 minutes 21 seconds.
Legge battled hard to stay on terms, but had to settle for third despite improving on his race one run time by nearly two minutes.
Edwina Carter (Optima Racing Team) made it two wins out of two by carving two minutes of the previous women's course record.
She clocked 1:013:15, with Lucy Bowen (Thames Turbo/ Sigma Sport) 20 seconds adrift and Natalie Creswick (Ful-On-Tri) third (1:04.32).
The third of the four-race series is on May 26.
