You are fishing a water that is famous for its stock of huge carp, you are fishing with luncheon meat and you catch a specimen perch, writes Ray Robson.
No it is not April 1 - it really happened to Daniel Woolcott.
Fishing a 24-hour session at Whytevane, near Horsham, Woolcott opted for luncheon meat under a waggler from a swim near the clubhouse.
He fished patiently but never had a single take from a carp.
What he did get was a take from a 3lb 3oz perch to give him a new personal best.
Nowadays, we all associate Godalming Marsh Farm with crucian carp and, unlike the previous angler, Warren Gill targeted them and caught what he was after, big time.
He tried using the pole, but that made that method impossible so he changed to a ground bait feeder pack with dynamite baits, ground bait and baited with schubaits s-pellet on the hook, dropping the rig in the same area he had targeted with the pole.
Three crucians came to the net, all over the magical 3lb mark, all topped by another that pulled the scales to a fabulous 4lb 2oz.
