Weybridge travelled to Banstead on Saturday hoping for a change of fortune despite the absence of several regulars.
Weybridge won the toss and put Banstead in to bat.
Henry Turner bowled a loose first over but had Dave Newton caught behind in the next with the score on 11 and Tom Lancefield became his second victim two overs later.
Some very tight bowling by David Court and Turner, supported by sound fielding, severely restricted the home team’s scoring rate.
Rob Burns (30) steadily built a total in partnership with Jak Martin (11) and Dave Sutton (19) before falling to the bowling of Darren Livett.
Phil Reeves came to the wicket just before lunch and looked very uncomfortable facing Livett and Jack Barton.
After lunch he slowly built partnerships with Sutton and Adam Clarke but the introduction of Seren Waters (3 for 11) to the attack saw three wickets fall in six balls.
Tristam Caviet then defended resolutely and participated in a partnership of 35 without scoring a run. Reeves (60) was eventually bowled by Jack Barton (3 for 35) as the innings came to a close.
An innings made more remarkable as he was in pain from a suspected badly damaged toe. Court bowled 23 overs of which 8 were maidens and conceded only 35 runs.
Seren Waters and Abeed Janmohamed dominated the home team bowlers from the start and put on 77 for the first wicket.
Janmohamed (44) scored seven fours and a six before being caught by Mike Taylor off the bowling of Mike Condie.
Tom Winslade and Waters once again showed they could build a partnership before Mark Houghton had Winslade (14) caught by Burns. Waters (65) was Houghton’s next victim leaving David Court and Andy Muggleton to score the runs needed for victory. Muggleton sealed the victory with a six and a winning margin of seven wickets.
The win took Weybridge from the foot to mid table.
Weybridge play host to Guildford on Saturday.
