Leatherhead Swimming Club’s rising star Chloe Bean won four golds and two bronzes at the South East Region Swimming Championships.
The 13-year-old was the overall winner in the championships at K2, Crawley, and also smashed three regional records, in the 100m breaststroke (1:13.83), 200m breast-stroke (2:38.85) and 400m freestyle (4:29.68).
Teammate Nicky Cooke, also 13, finished 6th overall, gaining two silver medals in the 400m freestyle and 800 freestyle and a bronze in the 200 freestyle, all in national qualifying times.
There were gold medals for 14year-old Jack Beddoes (1500m freestyle) and 14-year-old Sid Howes (800 freestyle). Beddoes also took silver in the 400 freestyle and bronze in the 200 IM; Howes gained bronze in the 1500m freestyle and an NQT in the 400m freestyle.
Chloe’s younger sister, Lucy Bean, another breaststroke specialist, powered her way to 4th position in the 200m breaststroke, in a closely fought race.
There was a bronze for the 11 – 14y boys team in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay.
Impressive swims were also achieved by Suzanne Norman, Melanie Hampton, Daniel Malamud, Gaby Orlich, Fergal Marrett, Louis Foster and Tony Graham.
Chloe, Nicky, Jack and Sid will be competing in the national championships in Sheffield at the end of July.
