Ashford Bowling Club had a busy week, with six matches and several other players in competitions.

ASHFORD v PUTNEY TOWN - RICHMOND BARNES & DISTRICT 1/2/3

Ashford were beaten by Putney. Putney won the singles by 13 shots, which gave them a good advantage with only the pairs and triples to finish.

Putney went on to win the pairs and triples to give them a convincing victory.

ASHFORD 86 v HARROW & DISTRICT BOWLS ASSOCIATION 74 - MEN'S MIDWEEK MATCH

Five triples were played, Ashfprd won three and Harrow DBA won two. Harrow took an early lead but at the halfway stage Ashford had just crept one shot ahead.

As the game progressed, Ashford gradually extended their lead. Top scorers for Ashford were H Anderson, R Fullicks, G Aylott with a 26-13 victory.

STAINES 33 v ASHFORD 69 - WOMEN'S MATCH Ashford won all three triples. Ashford began well and never looked like losing the match. Top scorers were J Wilson, M Law, C Stedman with a 29-10 scoreline.

CHALFONT St GILES 24 v ASHFORD 49 - THAMES VALLEY LEAGUE DOUBLE RINK

Ashford won both at home and away to knock out Chalfont St Giles. The home team had a shaky start losing the first four ends, but they picked themselves up and then took control of the game.

Their opponents responded well which meant that Ashford could not afford any errors. Ashford improved under the pressure which frustrated the other team.

That produced a good game which Ashford eventually won 21-11.

The away team had a similar start but they also improved their game as the match went on and once in front they weren't going to be beaten.

The final away score was a 28-13 win. This was a good performance after Mondays' disappointing loss.

ASHFORD 41 v UXBRIDGE 37 - MCWBA DOUBLE RINK

The Ashford Ladies have played well to reach this stage of the competition and were expecting a tough contest.

They played very well at the away venue and stunned Uxbridge with an excellent 28-14 win. The game at Ashford was completely different as Uxbridge took an early lead. Ashford struggled against them but managed to restrict Uxbridges' victory to only 10 shots which gave Ashford the overall win.

HOUNSLOW CONSERVATIVES 64 v ASHFORD 80 - MIXED MATCH

In a fairly evenly contested match, both sides won two triples each. Hounslows' winning triples managed to win by one and three shots, but Ashfords' winning triples won by six and 14 shots to give their team the higher total score.
