Collingwood AC spent Saturday afternoon braving the hills of Box Hill near Dorking, writes Alison Fox.
At the Trionium Midsummer Munro half marathon, Richard Fox finished strongly in 2.14 - a personal best of some 14 minutes for this particular race.
But it in the full marathon, The Picnic, described as the hardest marathon in Britain, that more Collingwood members took up the challenge.
There were 90 finishers within 7 hours. Dave Ross came in an excellent fifth (3.59.42), with Steve Cooney 15th (4.31.18), Allan Rumbles 34th (5.12.18), Mel Johnston 48th (5.23.44) and Bill Walsh 50th (5.25.25).
Proudest moment of the day came for Andy Stalley, who had chosen The Picnic as his 100th marathon.
He finished in 28th in 4.54.54 and was presented with his 100th marathon club t-shirt and medal.
