Lambeth’s female hockey players will compete in the final 12 of London Youth Games hockey competition after making it through the qualifying rounds, writes Hugo Nisbett.

The qualifiers were held on 20 June at Redbridge Sports Centre. In total, 24 boroughs entered the girls competition and the Lambeth qualified from their group alongside Kingston and Bromley.

The team was drawn from Streatham and Clapham high schools.

Team manager Liz Basson said: “The team played well and all their practice paid off.

“Everyone had a lot of fun and we are all looking forward to coming back for the Finals at Crystal Palace.”

Player Natasha Reed added: “ We are all proud of our performance – we played well and scored lots of goals. Bring on the Finals.”

The finals will be at Crystal Palace on July 4.
