An impressive run-chase left Teddington Town first team celebrating a comfortable win, at home to Chenies & Latimer on Saturday afternoon.

Chenies & Latimer batted first and despite scoring consistently though the order, were restricted to 220-8.

The wickets being shared between all the Town bowlers. Vimal Patel posting the most impressive figures with 3-19 off five overs.

Batsmen Chapman, Issacs and Bowen, all fell in their 40s.

A lack of early inroads left Town with strong platform to power to victory, as a fine opening partnership between Rod Mitchell and Vimal Patel blunted the away team attack. This left the middle order to complete the job Gareth Simmonds (63) and Vikesh Patel (26) the not-out batsmen in a five wicket win.

Teddington Town 2nd IX suffered a heavy defeat at Hayes II.

After a promising win the previous weekend Town were asked to bat first, having lost the toss.

This proved a good decision as some accurate bowling was heavily aided by slow, low bounce and swing, was rewarded by wickets at regular intervals, as the top-order struggled to play expansive shots.

However, 47 runs from vice-captain Derek Facer, with help from the lower order saw Town post 137 all out, as the earlier problems with the surface began to ease.

Hayes’ knowledge of home conditions, as well as some positive batting helped their cause.

Despite a number of close appeals and three wickets for opening bowler John Gardiner, Hayes pushed on to victory with six wickets in-hand.

Cane (50) and Jason (48) putting on an impressive third wicket stand to kill off Town’s hopes.
