Epsom & Ewell Harriers went top of the Southern Women’s League after a superb victory on Saturday.

Jo Bennett (38.28m) and Wendy Dunsford (29.17m) started the ball rolling with victory in the A and B hammer, successes which proved to be good omens for the rest of the day.

They also doubled up in the discus with Bennett throwing 28.40m and Dunsford 26.0m.

Other winning double acts saw Julia Machin (5.56m) and Lucy Barnard (5.10m) take the A and B long jump, with Emily Alden (10.13.2) and Isabel Brinsden (10.45.0) doing the same in the 3,000m.

SIsters Jo Bennett won both the A and B shot putt (12.27m and 11.41m) and the javelin (30.94m and 19.02m). Machin (1.81m) also won the high jump.

Alden (4:41.1) claimed the 1,500m, with Barnard (10.26m) winning the triple jump.

Emily Parker (59.8 seconds) set a personal best in the 400m hurdles, with Maddie Cole (18.1) doing likewise in the 100m hurdles.

Despite struggling with injury, Amy Quaile’s league debut saw her clock an impressive 13.2 in the 100m.
