St Mary’s Richmond finished third in Saturday’s Division Two clash at Perivale - but it would have been better had the meeting not clashed with two weddings.
The result keeps St Mary’s Richmond 15th in the table, just one point above the six clubs in the relegation zone.
Both of the club’s victories came in the high jump. Melvin Glover, making his first appearance of the season, won with a personal best 1.92m, only narrowly failing with two attempts at 1.95m.
Meanwhile, 37-year-old Chris James won the B event with 1.75m, while Neil Jennings was joint winner of the B pole vault Second places: Neil Jennings (hammer, shot), Marc Snaith (400m hurdles), Nigel Rothwell (B 3,000m steeplechase), Jimmy Goulis (B 800m, 1,500m), Chris Brook (B 400m hurdles), Third places: Chris James (long jump, B shot, B discus), Neil Jennings (javelin, discus, 110m hurdles), Tim Haughian (800m), Marc Snaigh (3,000m steeplechase), Peter Robinson (pole vault), Joe Cumberbatch (B 100m, B 200m), Alex Gill (B 5,000m).
Match result: 1 Norwich 122, 2 Ealing & Southall 114, 3 St Mary’s Richmond 106, 4 Guildford & Godalming 94, 5 Croydon Harriers 91.
This Saturday St Mary’s visit a Dartford side who will be trying to move out of the relegation zone. Ryston, Hillingdon and Walton are their other opponents.
