A 108-run seventh wicket partnership between Elliott Hill and Andrew Clarke laid the foundation for Teddington’s thumping 156-run triumph over Shepherd’s Bush on Saturday.
Skipper Toby Bailey’s men had been reduced to 115 for six before Hill (60) and Clarke (54) rescued their side from an embarrassing collapse at the Middlesex County League Premier Division strugglers.
Clarke continued with the ball where he left off with the bat as he claimed figures of 3-5 from seven overs - to go with fellow opening bowler Michael King’s 4-49 - as the hosts were skittled for just 90.
Richmond’s miserable season continued at title-chasing Hampstead as they succumbed to seven-wicket thrashing having set their hosts a target of 234 to win at the weekend.
A 120-run partnership between Nick Alexander (75) and Stephen Price (65) had put their side in a good position, but skipper Simon Elliott’s men found it slow going overall is they struggled to kick on after their departure.
The fact one of Hempstead's three wickets to fall was a run-out and Elliott deployed the services of seven bowlers, emphasised Richmond’s lack of penetration in the bowling department as the hosts claimed the win with overs to spare.
Australian all-rounder James Munting’s third five-wicket haul of the season put Twickenham on course for a dramatic winning draw at Division Two leaders Southgate.
His efforts saw the hosts dismissed for 194, having recovered from 99-7 thanks to Rob Johnson’s (50) ability to bat with the tail - in particular with Omair Ali (30) who did his bit in a crucial 52-run ninth wicket partnership.
Ts were going along nicely while skipper Carlos Nunes (40) and Munting (41) at the crease, but they fell to Johnson (4-39) and with spinner Matt Crease taking 5-81 Hamptstead were soon closing in on victory.
It took two runs off the final ball of the innings - via a leg-side smear from number 11 Ryan Combrinck that was dropped in the deep - for Ts to claim a dramatic winning draw and keep them in the hunt for promotion.
In Division Three, Barnes fell nine runs short of victory as they were dismissed for 160 with eight balls remaining, chasing bottom-side Wycombe House’s 168 all out.
Fixtures: Finchley v Teddington, Richmond v Ealing, Enfield v Twickenham, Barnet Bs v Barnes.
