Richmond U14, winners of the Mid-Surrey U13 League last year, are three points clear at the three-quarters stage of this season’s Mid-Surrey U15 League.
Excellent team spirit have provided the platform for many individual match-winning performances, leading to seven victories.
Off-spinner Harry Light’s half-century against Spencer led the run chase for victory after opening pace bowler and all-rounder Louis Molloy had bowled a double-wicket maiden in the first over of the match.
Opener Harry Wright’s two 50s got the team off to flying starts against Leatherhead and Worcester Park, while Dan Fryer’s battling 68, a mature innings beyond his years, steered Richmond home against Long Ditton as wickets fell around him.
Michael Lever continues to bowl with great reliability and heads the economy figures.
Keeper Giles Lawrence has claimed 12 victims so far this season, with several stumped off Elliott Morley’s leg-spin.
Reliable fast bowler Harvey Comerford is showing a taste for captaincy, fast-medium Joseph Loveland is an effective partnership breaker, while Alex Knapman is Richmond’s fastest bowler.
Most recently, in a low-scoring cliff-hanger of a match Richmond achieved their finest victory defeating title favourites Stoke d’Abernon who were reduced at one stage to 65-9.
With Richmond themselves struggling at 35-5, it needed all-rounder Zain Bhatkar to take control and his 42 not out steered the team to victory.
