Molesey Community Church Cricket Club (MCCCC) made the final of the National Christian Cricket Cup by beating three time winners Barton Church from Canterbury in the semi-final away on Saturday.
On a cloudy and windy day in Canterbury MCC lost the toss and fielded. Brilliant catches from Chris Harp and Dave Jupp and tight bowling from Simon Grant 2-20, Nick Hampshire 2-13 and Ashley Russell 3-18 restricted Barton to 130.
The unpredictable wicket was equally tough for the Molesey side to bat on. Chris Harp 15, Nick Hampshire 24 and Mark Blythe 27 saw Molesey through to a nail biting finish. The match ended tied on 130 runs each with Molesey winning with a faster run rate!
Molesey now travel to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31st to play St. Thomas' Sheffield who won the Northern Churches section.
