Teddington Town celebrated a three-wicket win away at Marlow Park on Saturday.
Marlow Park batted first and it was not before both openers were removed by seamer Gregg Dardagan, that they were able to establish a significant partnership.
I Slikhan (59 runs) and T Francis (36) the main contributors, as those after were worn down by some good bowling by the Town attack. The home side managing 200 all-out, with Dardagan claiming three wickets, as all five bowlers used shared the spoils.
It was not all plain sailing for Teddington Town as several batsmen made it into double figures before getting out.
However, decent partnerships throughout the order were enough to see them home in just over 40 overs. Number three, Gareth Simmonds, managed 63, before becoming one of Kim Barlow’s victims in a three wicket haul. Dardigan, ending an excellent personal all-round display, with a valuable 30 runs, following his display with the ball.
The 2nd IX completed a memorable weekend for Teddington Town with an astonishing victory at home to Caversham & Redingensians 2nd Team.
After winning the toss, Caversham, having decided to bat, made steady progress. Despite Town removing batsmen at regular intervals, the away team were left with enough wickets in-hand to hit-out in the final few overs and establish a decent total of 268 for 5.
Graham Mitchell carrying his bat through the entire innings and completing his century in the final over, ending on 107 not-out. John Camidge ably supporting, with a quick-fire 80.
As the Town openers strode out to the middle, Caversham would never have imagined the tough time they would encounter in the field as Willie Van Aswegen and Martyn Powell began, what would turn out to be, a match-winning partnership.
As the two batsmen began to establish themselves boundaries began to come in rapid succession.
As bowlers and fielders heads began to drop, Powell took a dominant role, spraying the ball to all parts of the Bushy Park ground. His 156 not-out contained 19 fours and 7 sixes, as Town raced past the winning post with around 10 overs to spare. Van Aswegen, with an impressive 80 not-out.
