British international Phil Wicks headed home a 5,000-plus field to win the Standard Chartered Great City 5km road race through the Square Mile last week.
Belgrave Harrier Wicks set a blistering pace from the start to win in 14 minutes, 32 seconds to lead the Legal & General team to victory.
He was 14 seconds slower than his winning time in 2008.
He completed a hat-trick of wins, having secured his first success in 2007, when he clocked a faster14:06.
Richard Burney, from adidas UK, was second in 15:14, just four seconds ahead of Thames Hare & Hounds’s James McMullan, who led the KPMG team to second place.
Another Thames runner, Stuart Major, the second member of the winning Legal & General team, was fourth in 15:23.
Wicks’s fiance Emily Adams won the women’s race in 17:42 running for Punter Southall.
West 4 Harriers’ Anna Critchlow, who was fifth in 18:26, led Career Legal to the women’s team title.
