Usain Bolt anchored the Racers Track Club 4x100m relay team to the fourth fastest time in history at Crystal Palace today.

Hundreds of Jamaican fans turned out to watch the triple Olympic champion for the second day in a row and he didn’t disappoint as the quartet of Daniel Bailey, Yohan Blake, Mario Forsythe and Bolt clocked 37.46 seconds.

They led home the American team and the Great Britain One quartet, anchored by Sutton’s Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

The Great Britain Two team failed to finished as Craig Pickering could not get the baton to Toby Sandeman.

Elsewhere, Tyson Gay threw down the gauntlet to Bolt in the 200m ahead of next month’s World Championships, easing down to win in exactly 20 seconds.

“I haven’t trained for a couple of weeks as my groin is a bit tight,” he said afterwards.

“I’m just trying to run through the pain and be tough about it.

“I didn’t do the warm up like I wanted to because of the situation.

“The way I slowed down it would have been 19.80 at least.

“Of course I don’t agree that Bolt is favourite for the 100m in Berlin.

“He has it pretty technically sound and I’m still working on it but he knows I am close to being the only one who beat him.”

Elsewhere, Carmelita Jeter won the women’s 100m with an impressive personal best of 10.92 while Tirunesh Dibaba sprinted clear on the final lap to win the 5,000m.

Croydon Harrier Martyn Rooney returned from injury but was disappointed as he finished fifth in the 400m in 45.63, an event won by fellow Brit Michael Bingham in a personal best.

Twickenham’s Steph Twell will face an anguish wait to find out if she will go the World Championships after fading badly in the home straight of the women’s 1500m to finish sixth behind fellow Brits Hannah England and Lisa Dobriskey.

Wallington’s wheelchair athlete David Weir was also beaten into second place in the 1500m.
