Depleted Surrey ran out 109-106 winners over Buckinghamshire in their fourth Senior Home Counties League match of the seaon at Iver Heath on Saturday.
Despite 14 withdrawals, Surrey showed great determination against a Bucks side featuring a full allocation of Middleton Cup bowlers.
There was very little between the teams, but a 23-10 victory for the Surrey rink of Doug Spittles (Shirley Park), Bob Budd (Shirley Park), Darren King (North Sheen) and Jeff O’Leary (Epsom Park) proved crucial.
Just as important were the late rallies by Nathan Beeson and Martin Sampson’s rinks after really struggling through the earlier ends.
Surrey take 16 points to their hosts’ six and host Sussex CBA at Cranleigh on Saturday.
